Job Summary
Confirm and record receipt of shipments; prepare items for shipping. Oversee the day-to-day functions of the Shipping Department, directing warehouse personnel, managing shipping docks, paperwork, and ensuring that orders are picked and shipped correctly and on time, managing the inter-departmental transport of materials.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities (*Essential Functions)

- Ensure smooth operation of the entire shipping department.
- Responsibilities include coordinating the activities of employees engaged in material handling, shipping, storage, and transportation, preparing Bills of Lading
- Schedule deliveries based on available inventory, anticipated inventory (based on production schedule), and order promise dates, and meet all customer expectations related to customer-requested ship date.
- Coordinate with Production and Customer Service departments to optimize shipping schedules, freight expenses, and on-time delivery.
- Responsible for ensuring orders are picked and processed on time based on customer requirements and the carrier pick-up schedule.
- Manage shipping dock doors, driver check-ins, and pick-ups.
- Review shipping performance daily, monthly, and report results.
- Responsible for the physical inventories to include the actual counting and reconciliation of the count; ensures that cycle count is conducted multiple times per year.
- Ensure that the shipping area is organized and clean at all times and meets compliance factors.
- Train and develop employees and monitor performance activities; ensure all employees are certified/trained to operate power industrial equipment.
- Formally appraise performance; coach/counsel employees and provide continual feedback on both positive and negative performance; take necessary disciplinary action; and determine the method in which work is performed.
- Assists with the interview/hiring process.
- Complies with Company policy, including safety as well as adherence to applicable safety procedures concerning equipment operation, machine/tool operation, repair/installation work.
Other (Non-Essential) Functions
Includes functions that are normally performed by the person holding this title. However, these functions may be assigned to other employees as part of a "Reasonable Accommodation" under ADA.
- May provide guidance and training to other team members.
- Performs other duties and assignments as required.
Physical Requirements & Environmental Conditions
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing environment with one or more unpleasant or hazardous conditions including but not limited to exposure to dust, dirt, high noise levels (hearing protection provided), chemicals, hot and cold environments, etc. 20% to 50% of work time, (all materials an employee may come in contact with are detailed with readily available MSDS sheets).
- Incumbent constantly required to hear, speak, be articulate, use color and central vision, grasp, reach, and use manual dexterity.
- Regularly required to sit for long periods, occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Employee occasionally required to lift to and/or move 10 pounds to 45 pounds.

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in business/ relevant field or equivalent work experience.
- A minimum of 5 years of previous shipping experience as a supervisor/manager in a manufacturing environment.
- Extensive knowledge of JD Edwards and One Max software, along with Microsoft Office.
- Must possess knowledge of truck lines, freight costs, and distribution points.
- Strong leadership and safety experience.
- The position will have approximately seven non-exempt direct reports.
