The Role
- Operations Management: Oversee the daily operations of freight forwarding services, ensuring that shipments are handled smoothly and within agreed timelines. Ensure compliance with all regulatory and company policies. • Team Leadership: Lead, train, and motivate a team of logistics coordinators and operations staff to efficiently execute air, sea, and land freight services. • Carrier & Vendor Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with carriers, shipping lines, and third-party vendors to negotiate favorable rates, optimize shipping schedules, and improve service quality. • Cost Control & Budget Management: Monitor operational costs, identify opportunities for cost-saving initiatives, and ensure that shipments are moved in the most cost-effective manner without compromising service quality. • Customer Coordination: Work closely with the sales and customer service teams to provide excellent customer support, address any operational issues, and offer solutions to meet clients’ needs. • Documentation & Compliance: Ensure that all shipping documentation (invoices, bills of lading, customs forms, etc.) is prepared accurately and submitted on time. Stay updated on industry regulations and ensure all shipments comply with international shipping laws and customs requirements. • Problem Resolution: Address and resolve any operational issues, delays, or customer complaints, ensuring quick resolution and minimal disruption to the supply chain. • Performance Monitoring: Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to operational efficiency, delivery times, cost control, and customer satisfaction. Implement continuous improvement initiatives. • Reporting: Prepare and present regular reports on operational performance, cost analysis, and any ongoing or potential issues to senior management.
Requirements
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. Professional certifications in freight forwarding or logistics (e.g., FIATA, IATA) are a plus. • Experience: o Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in freight forwarding and logistics operations, with at least 3 years in a managerial or supervisory role. o Solid understanding of air, sea, and land freight operations, customs clearance processes, and shipping documentation. o Proven experience in managing a team and working collaboratively across multiple departments. o Experience with vendor negotiations and building strong relationships with service providers.
