Overview

The SMEs Team Leader will be responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of SME clients while leading and developing a team of SME officers. The role focuses on meeting clients’ financial needs—including deposits, transactions, trade finance, and borrowing—while ensuring strong customer relationships, portfolio growth, and high team performance.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead, supervise, and mentor a team of SME officers to achieve business objectives.
  • Set clear performance targets for the team and ensure consistent achievement.
  • Support team members with training, coaching, and guidance to enhance skills and productivity.
  • Manage and grow a portfolio of SME customers while ensuring high levels of client satisfaction and retention.
  • Build strong relationships with decision-makers within client organizations.
  • Handle escalated client concerns and ensure timely, professional resolution.
  • Identify and execute cross-selling and upselling opportunities across financial products.
  • Drive client acquisition strategies to expand the SME portfolio.
  • Ensure team compliance with customer service standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Monitor market trends and competitor activities to identify growth opportunities.
  • Collaborate with internal departments to ensure efficient and seamless customer service delivery.

What Makes You a Good Fit

  • Minimum 3 years of experience in banking with a focus on SME banking.
  • Proven team leadership/people management experience.
  • Successful completion of a credit course (mandatory).
  • Strong leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Demonstrated success in portfolio growth and client relationship management.
  • Ability to motivate and guide a team toward achieving ambitious targets.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills.
