Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled SMT Machine Operator / Programmer to join our electronics manufacturing team. This role is responsible for the setup, operation, and programming of surface mount technology (SMT) equipment used in the production of printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).

The ideal candidate will have experience with pick-and-place machines, stencil printing, reflow ovens, feeder setup, and SMT programming, along with a strong understanding of electronics manufacturing processes. This position plays a critical role in ensuring high-quality and efficient production of circuit board assemblies used in aerospace and defense applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Program and operate SMT pick-and-place machines for printed circuit board assembly production
  • Set up and maintain feeders, nozzles, and component reels for SMT production runs
  • Prepare and operate solder paste stencil printers and support proper paste deposition
  • Monitor and operate reflow ovens to ensure proper solder profiles
  • Verify machine programs using assembly drawings, pick-and-place files, and BOMs
  • Perform machine setup, first article verification, and production changeovers
  • Inspect boards during production to ensure proper component placement and solder quality
  • Troubleshoot SMT equipment and resolve production issues as needed
  • Maintain accurate production documentation and machine logs
  • Follow ESD handling procedures and quality standards
  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with 5S and lean manufacturing principles
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering and quality teams to support continuous improvement

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years of experience operating or programming SMT equipment
  • Experience with pick-and-place machines and SMT production environments
  • Familiarity with solder paste printing, feeder setup, and reflow soldering
  • Ability to read assembly drawings, pick-and-place files, and work instructions
  • Understanding of PCB assembly processes and electronic components
  • Strong attention to detail and troubleshooting ability
  • Ability to work independently and follow structured manufacturing procedures
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; technical training or electronics manufacturing experience preferred

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience programming SMT machines (Yamaha, Juki, Mydata, Fuji, Panasonic, etc.)
  • Familiarity with IPC-A-610 standards
  • Experience with first article inspection and SMT process optimization
  • Experience working with high-reliability electronics manufacturing

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to sit or stand for extended periods
  • Ability to handle small electronic components
  • Occasionally lift and move up to 40 pounds

Pay: $26.00 - $35.00 per hour
