Position Summary

The Social Media Content Creator is responsible for creating, publishing, and managing digital content across the social media platforms of Cayenne Wellness Center (CWC), the Sickle Cell Trait Awareness Campaign (STAC), and MACHAO. This role ensures that social media communications reflect the mission, values, and voice of the organization while strengthening relationships with caregivers, warriors, healthcare professionals, partners, and the broader Community.

The position supports education, awareness, and advocacy efforts by producing engaging, accessible, and culturally responsive content that amplifies the lived experiences of individuals impacted by sickle cell disease and promotes the programs, initiatives, and events of the Organization.

Social Media Management & Community Engagement

Responsibilities:

  • Manage social media platforms for Cayenne Wellness Center (CWC), STAC, and MACHAO, including Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, and designated Twitter/X accounts.
  • Monitor and respond to comments, direct messages, and mentions across all social platforms.
  • Facilitate meaningful digital conversations with caregivers, warriors, healthcare professionals, and partners.
  • Maintain a welcoming and respectful online community by moderating comments and addressing inappropriate or harmful content when necessary.
  • Identify opportunities to highlight community voices, testimonials, and user-generated content.
  • Escalate sensitive or urgent inquiries to leadership or program staff when appropriate.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Respond to social media comments and messages within 24 hours during business days.
  • Monitor social media engagement and community interactions daily (Monday–Friday).
  • Highlight or reshare community stories, testimonials, or partner content 2–3 times per month.

Digital Content Development

Responsibilities:

  • Create platform-specific content tailored to the audience of each social platform.
  • Schedule and manage posts using Agorapulse for CWC, STAC, and MACHAO accounts.
  • Maintain and update the social media content calendar in coordination with the marketing team and leadership.
  • Produce digital formats including graphics, photo-based posts, educational carousels, short-form videos, reels, and community spotlight features.
  • Ensure content aligns with organizational campaigns, awareness initiatives, program priorities, and event promotion.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Publish 4–5 social media posts per week for CWC.
  • Publish 2–3 social media posts per week for STAC.
  • Publish 2–3 social media posts per week for MACHAO.
  • Produce 1–2 short-form videos or reels per week across platforms.
  • Maintain a monthly social media calendar planned at least two weeks in advance.

Content Strategy & Editorial Planning

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with developing and maintaining a social media content strategy for CWC, STAC, and MACHAO.
  • Coordinate with leadership and program staff to identify priority messaging and storytelling opportunities.
  • Ensure consistency of voice, tone, and messaging across platforms.
  • Align social media content with key campaigns, events, and advocacy initiatives.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Maintain a monthly social media editorial plan.
  • Contribute ideas to at least one awareness or advocacy campaign per quarter.

Campaign Support & Advocacy Initiatives

Responsibilities:

  • Amplify awareness campaigns related to sickle cell disease and trait education.
  • Highlight stories from caregivers, warriors, advocates, and partner organizations.
  • Support coordinated messaging during advocacy initiatives and awareness months.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Produce 3–5 campaign-related social media posts during active campaigns.
  • Participate in all major organizational awareness campaigns.

Campaign examples are: Sickle Cell Warrior Artist, Giving Tuesday, Poetry Contest, Hydration Challenge, etc.

Event Marketing & Real-Time Coverage

Responsibilities:

  • Provide digital content support for conferences, summits, film screenings, advocacy days, and community events.
  • Capture and share real-time updates during events through Instagram Stories and other social media platforms.
  • Highlight speakers, partners, and key moments during events.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Provide live Instagram Story coverage during events (5–15 stories depending on event length).
  • Publish 2–3 recap posts following major events.
  • Support pre-event promotion with 3–5 social posts per event.

Respectful & Accessible Communication

Responsibilities:

  • Use clear, respectful language when talking about health experiences and community stories.
  • Be mindful that many people in our community have gone through difficult health challenges, and communicate with care and sensitivity.
  • Make sure posts represent people in the community with dignity and respect.
  • Help ensure everyone can understand and access our content by:

◦ Writing in plain, easy-to-understand language

◦ Adding image descriptions (alt text) when possible

◦ Avoiding language that could feel judgmental or stigmatizing

Quantity Expectations

  • Make sure all social media content follows the organization’s guidelines for respectful and accessible communication before it is published.

Performance Tracking & Reporting

Responsibilities:

  • Track engagement, reach, and audience growth across social platforms.
  • Review analytics using Agorapulse and native platform insights.
  • Share insights that inform improvements to social media strategy.

Quantity Expectations:

  • Provide monthly social media performance summaries.
  • Contribute insights to quarterly communications reports.

QUALIFICATIONS:

● Bachelor's degree (must); Master’s degree (is preferred in Public Health or Social Work).

● Previous experience working in/with local CBOs or agencies

● Proficient in using multiple social media channels.

● Bilingual - ENG/SPN is a plus.

● Must be proficient in Microsoft Office - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.

● Must be proficient in Google Suite.

● Familiarity with Adobe Suite (preferred).

● Able to work within a team and with peers and with minimal supervision and independently

● Able to navigate the computer, create spreadsheets, and shared computer applications

● Must have dependable transportation, drivers license and auto insurance in your name. as you will drive to cover events.

Pay: $22.05 per hour
