Social Media Editor

The National, the leading quality news organisation in the Middle East, is looking for a Social Media Editor to lead our team of social media journalists in our Abu Dhabi newsroom.

We are looking for candidates with experience leading social media output for a reputable news organisation and a record of growing engagement. You should have a deep understanding of how to craft, package and sell stories and tailor them according to the relevant platform. Candidates should be passionate about social media and short-form video. We are looking for a leader with strong management skills who can head up and inspire our five-strong team and the ability to work across the newsroom with our other departments, especially multimedia and data visualisation.

Knowledge of Middle East politics, diplomacy and society is required - as is attention to detail, sound editorial judgement and the ability not just to work but to thrive under pressure. You should be able to demonstrate an understanding of industry trends, notably the impact of artificial intelligence on social media.
