POSITION SUMMARY
During this externship, students will have the opportunity to work within the Marketing & Communications team at the Culinary Institute of America (CIA) where they will gain exposure to Social Media & Content Marketing for food and hospitality. In this position, we hope to further develop student’s business acumen, giving them real-life exposure to the rapidly growing food marketing industry.
ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Gain an understanding of social media & marketing strategies, including a social media marketing plan.
- Create and refine brand image and architecture through exposure to business decision-making processes, leveraging analytics and strategic risk-taking.
- Create multi-media content (photos, videos, and graphics) to post to the CIA’s social media and track analytics.
- Observe and participate in community engagement, including responding to social media comments and messages with guidance.
- Update restaurant menus on the CIA’s website. Learn, create and execute marketing campaigns, paid media campaigns, utilizing analytics and loyalty marketing.
- Learn how to build, set, and utilize an editorial calendar.
- Develop photography and video imaging skills.
- Any and all other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- Current CIA student, pre-Extern.
Experience:
- Previous Social Media experience.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
- Passion for social media.
- Experience with Earn & Learn and personal social media channels.
REQUIRED SKILLS
- Excellent written, verbal communication and strong presentation skills required.
- Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills; ability to be adaptable, dependable and handle multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Strong administrative abilities.
- Strong computer experience in MS Office suite products, i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint.
- Work requires continual attention to detail in composing, typing and proofing materials, establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.
WORKING CONDITIONS
- Must be available to work nights and weekends as required due to business needs.
- Regular work requires a great deal of sitting and standing for extended periods.
- Regular work requires the use of a computer, sometimes in excess of eight (8) hours per day.
