Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled and certified Senior Database Administrator to manage, secure and modernize our enterprise database landscape. This role is pivotal in supporting the core SQL Server and PostgreSQL/PostGIS platforms.

Key Responsibilities

• Multi-Platform Administration: Lead the installation, configuration and end-to-end management of SQL Server (2019–2022) and PostgreSQL (v13–v16) instances across hybrid environments.
• HA & BC: Design and maintain mission-critical HA/DR solutions, including SQL Server Always On Availability Groups and PostgreSQL clustering via Patroni or repmgr to ensure zero data loss.
• Performance Management: Proactively monitor and optimize database health through advanced query tuning, index rationalization and PostgreSQL-specific Autovacuum/Bloat management.
• GIS Application Support: Provide specialized administration for PostGIS extensions, ensuring the stability and performance of spatial data platforms.
• Data Protection: Architect and execute robust backup and recovery strategies using pgBackRest, Barman, or native SQL tools to meet stringent RTO/RPO objectives.
• Infrastructure Modernization: Drive database modernization initiatives, including version upgrades, security patching.
• Security: Implement strict security controls, including data encryption, Role-Based Access Control (RBAC) and comprehensive auditing to meet enterprise compliance standards.
• Incident Response & RCA: Serve as the escalation point for database-related incidents, performing deep-dive Root Cause Analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring outages.
• Technical Advisory: Partner with development and GIS teams during the application design phase to provide expert guidance on schema architecture, capacity planning and database best practices.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Platform Expertise: Proven track record as a DBA with deep technical knowledge of SQL Server (2019–2022) and PostgreSQL (v12–v16); experience with recent major releases is essential.
• GIS Capability: Advanced proficiency in managing PostGIS extensions is highly desirable to support specialized spatial data workloads.
• Performance Tuning: Expert-level command of database internals, execution plans and optimization techniques for both SQL Server and PostgresSQL database servers
• Architectural Resilience: Demonstrated experience designing and deploying complex High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) architectures (e.g., AlwaysOn, Patroni, or Streaming Replication).
• Data Integrity & Recovery: Comprehensive experience in architecting enterprise backup/restore strategies and managing Point-in-Time Recovery (PITR) scenarios.
• Security: Strong familiarity with enterprise security protocols, encryption standards and regulatory compliance frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001).
• Troubleshooting: Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with ability to lead L3-level troubleshooting and performance diagnostics.
• Professional Certification: Valid industry certifications are mandatory.
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
