Mandatory Skills:

• Java

Preferred Technical Skills:

• Proficiency in Python and SQL

• Experience with PySpark (preferred) for big data processing

• Solid understanding of time series data analysis and predictive modeling

• Strong experience in Power BI for data visualization

• Experience with real-time telemetry data acquisition from distributed Modbus controllers (a plus)

Preferred Soft Skills:

• Excellent communication skills to articulate technical insights to cross-functional teams

• Proactive, self-motivated, and capable of working independently in a global team environment

• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail

Preferred Industry Experience:

• Mining, Power Generation, or related heavy equipment industries

• Familiarity with data engineering and pipeline development

• Experience working with global teams and navigating cross-cultural interactions

About the Role: We are seeking an innovative Data Scientist with strong expertise in controls engineering to join our team. You will collaborate with Product Owners and Data Engineers to design and implement cutting-edge algorithms and digital capabilities. The role focuses on analyzing time series data from controllers using telematics, developing predictive models to maximize equipment efficiency and reduce downtime.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and validate models for predictive analytics on equipment failures and downtime

• Collaborate with teams to gather requirements, prepare data, and build digital solutions

• Design and deploy algorithms using Python, SQL, and PySpark

• Create dashboards and visualizations in Power BI for actionable insights

• Collect and refine data from telematics systems and controllers for model training

• Present insights clearly to global teams and stakeholders

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred in Data Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields

• Minimum 3 years of hands-on experience in data science

• Background in embedded controls engineering strongly preferred
