Staff Accountant
Remote (Eau Claire & Chippewa Valley preferred / Wisconsin-based) | Full-Time
About Aaniie
Aaniie is a venture-backed, Inc. 5000–recognized vertical SaaS platform headquartered in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. We power the people who care for others — serving home care agencies, senior living communities, and childcare and nanny providers across the country. Our mission is personal: Aaniie was founded out of a family experience navigating in-home care, and that origin still shapes how we build, sell, and support our customers every day.
We are a fast-paced, growth-stage company at an exciting inflection point. Adjusted EBITDA recently turned positive for the first time in company history, ARR is climbing, and we are scaling our team, our customer base, and our financial operations in lockstep. If you want to do meaningful, high-trust work alongside a leadership team that genuinely values finance as a strategic partner — not a back-office function — keep reading.
The Role
We are hiring a Staff Accountant to support both accounts receivable and accounts payable for Aaniie. This is a hands-on, high-visibility position working closely with our CEO and COO. You will help keep the financial heartbeat of our customer relationships healthy — preparing monthly invoices for software fees, supporting collections, processing vendor bills accurately and on time, and partnering across Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation to flag customers at risk so we can retain them.
You will work daily in Zoho Books with direct, trusted access to our financial systems. As a growing SaaS company, we are still building and refining the processes that support MRR and ARR growth — billing workflows, AR aging discipline, AP controls, and reporting cadence — and you will play a meaningful role in that. This is a great opportunity for an accountant who wants to grow with the company, learn the SaaS finance playbook, and broaden their scope over time.
What You’ll DoAccounts Receivable & Customer Billing
- Prepare and send monthly customer invoices for SaaS subscriptions, usage-based charges, professional services, and add-on modules.
- Support AR aging, collections outreach, and payment application; help us keep DSO healthy and surface concerns early.
- Serve as a friendly, professional point of contact for customer billing questions — your tone with customers matters as much as the accuracy of the invoice.
- Partner with Sales, Customer Success, and Implementation to flag at-risk accounts (slow pay, billing disputes, usage drop-off) and contribute to retention plays.
- Reconcile billing to contracts and CRM data; help us tighten the quote-to-cash process as we grow.
Accounts Payable
- Process the full AP cycle: vendor onboarding, bill entry, approvals routing, payment runs, and 1099 preparation.
- Maintain clean vendor records and accurate GL coding to support reliable financial reporting.
- Help apply and improve internal controls appropriate for a growth-stage SaaS company.
Financial Operations & Reporting Support
- Work directly with the CEO and COO to support monthly close, financial reporting, and ad-hoc analysis.
- Maintain the integrity of Zoho Books — clean data, timely entries, accurate categorization.
- Support cash management, expense tracking, and variance reviews tied to our operating model.
- Help prepare materials that feed into board reporting, customer concentration analysis, and MRR/ARR tracking.
Process, Systems & AI
- Use AI tools actively to streamline accounting workflows — from drafting customer communications to reconciling data, summarizing reports, and accelerating routine analysis.
- Help identify automation opportunities across billing, AP, and reporting as we build the next generation of our accounting operations.
- Contribute to documenting and improving processes as the business evolves; thrive in an environment where we are still building systems together.
Who You Are
- 2–4 years of accounting experience, with hands-on exposure to AR, AP, or both.
- Experience in SaaS, technology, or another recurring-revenue business is a plus, as is familiarity with MRR/ARR concepts and SaaS billing models — but we will train the right candidate.
- Working knowledge of Zoho Books, QuickBooks, NetSuite, or comparable accounting software; ready and able to operate in Zoho Books on day one or get there quickly.
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills; comfortable building and maintaining reports and reconciliations.
- Genuinely curious about and actively using AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT, Copilot, etc.) to do your job better — not just willing, but enthusiastic.
- Exceptional attention to detail. You catch what others miss, and you take pride in clean books and accurate invoices.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills — you can write a professional collections email, explain a billing question to a customer, and brief leadership on a number with equal ease.
- Trustworthy, discreet, and comfortable handling sensitive financial information.
- Self-directed and adaptable; energized by a fast-paced growth environment where priorities shift and processes are still being built.
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary and benefits package.
- Benefits include (but are not limited to) paid holidays, flexible PTO, equity incentives, 401(k) with match, STD, LTD, and life insurance.
- Flexible, remote work environment with a preference for candidates in the Eau Claire / Chippewa Valley area, and Wisconsin-based candidates more broadly.
- Direct seat at the table: you will work closely with the CEO and COO, with real visibility into how a venture-backed SaaS company is run.
- Opportunities for professional development and growth as we scale.
- Modern tooling: Zoho Books, an AI-forward culture, and the support to bring new tools into the stack when they earn their place.
