Job Title: Male Starting Barista / Male Junior Barista

Reports to: Café Manager / Senior Barista

Job Overview:
A Starting Barista is responsible for assisting in the preparation of coffee, tea, and other beverages, providing excellent customer service, and maintaining a clean, organized café environment. This entry-level role is ideal for someone eager to learn the art of coffee-making and café operations.

Key Responsibilities / Duties:

• Beverage Preparation
• Learn to prepare and serve coffee, espresso drinks, tea, and other beverages according to company standards.
• Assist in grinding, measuring, and steaming ingredients as instructed.
• Follow hygiene and safety standards in handling food and drinks.
• Customer Service
• Greet customers warmly and take orders accurately.
• Answer basic questions about menu items and make recommendations under guidance.
• Ensure orders are delivered promptly and accurately.
• Equipment and Workspace Maintenance
• Clean and maintain coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other café equipment.
• Wash dishes, cups, and utensils as needed.
• Keep workstations, counters, and dining areas clean and organized.
• Inventory Assistance
• Monitor supplies and restock items such as milk, coffee beans, syrups, and cups.
• Notify senior staff when stock levels are low or equipment needs attention.
• Learning and Development
• Observe and assist senior baristas to learn advanced coffee-making techniques.
• Follow all health, safety, and hygiene protocols.
• Participate in team briefings and training sessions.

Skills and Qualities Required:

• Interest in coffee culture and willingness to learn.
• Basic customer service skills and a friendly attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions carefully.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Physical stamina for standing and moving for extended periods.

Working Conditions:

• Fast-paced café environment.
• Early mornings, weekends, and holiday shifts may be required.
• Exposure to hot surfaces, steam, and cleaning chemicals.
