Job Summary: Supervises the steel fixing tea, in cutting, bending, tying, and placing reinforcing steel bars, ensuring conformance to structural design and standards for durability and strength.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the steel fixing crew in precise cutting, bending, tying, and placing of reinforcement bars for slabs, beams, columns, foundations, and shear walls etc.
- Interpret reinforcement drawings and schedules, ensuring correct diameter, length, shape, and placement of rebar
- Supervise use of cutting and bending tools (manual cutters, mechanical benders) ensuring accuracy and safety
- Ensure reinforcement placement follows cover requirements, lap lengths, anchorage details, and spacing per structural specs
- Coordinate closely with site engineers and QA/QC to inspect and approve reinforcement prior to concreting
- Monitor tying methods using binding wire for secure and stable reinforcement cages
- Manage the timing of steel fixing activities to align with formwork completion and concrete pouring schedules
- Maintain steel fixing tools and equipment in good condition and ensure availability on site
- Enforce PPE usage and safe handling of steel bars, especially when working at heights or in confined areas
- Track daily manpower utilization and productivity, resolving manpower or material shortages promptly
- Resolve technical issues on-site related to reinforcement placement or drawing discrepancies
- Conduct training sessions for steel fixers on quality standards, safety practices, and efficient fixing methods
Qualifications and Experience:
- Secondary school certificate or Diploma.
- 12 or more years of practical site experience including 6 years as a Steel Foreman in building construction in the UAE/GCC
- Able to read & interpret architectural, structural, and MEP drawings precise.
