A storekeeper in a garage plays a crucial role in the efficient management of parts, tools, and supplies. This position is essential for ensuring that mechanics have immediate access to necessary items, minimizing downtime, and maintaining accurate inventory records.

🛠 What You’ll Get Your Hands On

  • Inventory Management: Managing the receipt, storage, and issuance of all automotive parts, merchandise, tools, and supplies. This includes conducting regular inventory counts, reconciling discrepancies, and ensuring accurate stock levels are maintained.
  • Receiving and Inspection: Receiving incoming deliveries, verifying the accuracy of shipments against purchase orders, and inspecting items for damage or defects. Properly logging and shelving new inventory in designated locations.
  • Issuing and Tracking: Issuing parts and tools to mechanics and technicians as requested, accurately recording all outgoing items, and tracking their usage. Ensuring that all items are signed out and returned properly.
  • Ordering and Replenishment: Monitoring inventory levels to identify items needing replenishment, preparing purchase requisitions for approval, and placing orders with suppliers. Following up on back orders and delivery schedules to prevent stockouts.
  • Organization and Housekeeping: Maintaining a clean, organized, and safe store room. This includes proper labeling of shelves, bins, and parts, as well as regular tidying and disposal of waste materials.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed and accurate records of all inventory transactions, including receipts, issuances, returns, and adjustments. Utilizing inventory management software or systems to ensure up-to-date information is available.
  • Supplier Communication: Communicating with suppliers regarding orders, deliveries, returns, and product inquiries. Building and maintaining good working relationships with vendors.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhering to all safety protocols and regulations within the store room and garage environment, especially concerning the storage of hazardous materials. Ensuring compliance with internal policies and procedures.

🧙‍♂️ The Magic You Bring

  • Experience in inventory management of automotive parts, tools, and supplies, including stock control and reconciliation
  • Ability to receive, inspect, store, and issue materials accurately as per documentation
  • Proficiency in tracking and recording inventory transactions using manual logs or inventory software
  • Knowledge of ordering, replenishment, and supplier coordination to prevent stock shortages
  • Strong organizational and housekeeping skills to maintain a clean, labeled, and safe storeroom
  • Understanding of safety procedures and compliance, especially for handling automotive and hazardous materials
  • Minimum qualification: Bachelor’s degree in any relevant field
