Role Overview
The Store Manager is responsible for driving sales, profitability, and operational excellence of a high-volume hypermarket, with a strong focus on FMCG categories (grocery, fresh, and fast-moving essentials). The role ensures optimal stock availability, execution of promotions, control of shrinkage, and delivery of superior customer experience while managing a large, multicultural team.
Key Responsibilities
1. FMCG Sales & Commercial Performance

Drive
FMCG category sales growth
(grocery, fresh, dairy, frozen, beverages, household)

Ensure high availability of
fast-moving SKUs and KVIs

Execute pricing strategies and promotions to remain competitive

Maximize basket value, impulse buying, and category penetration

Monitor competitor pricing (e.g., discount chains, nearby hypermarkets) and take corrective actions
2. Inventory Management & Stock Control

Maintain optimal stock levels with focus on
high-rotation FMCG items

Achieve
low OOS% (target <2%)

Monitor expiry management (FIFO/FEFO) and reduce wastage

Coordinate with buying and warehouse teams for replenishment planning

Ensure accurate stock counts and minimize shrinkage
3. Fresh Food Operations (Critical Area)

Oversee fresh departments: Fruits & Vegetables, Butchery, Fishery, Bakery

wastage, yield, and margins
in fresh categories

Ensure compliance with food safety and hygiene standards

Maintain freshness, quality, and visual merchandising standards
4. Promotions & Campaign Execution

Execute high-frequency campaigns (weekend deals, 10-day offers, seasonal promotions)

Ensure correct pricing, signage, and display of promotional items

Coordinate with marketing for in-store visibility and activation

Drive bulk sales during peak seasons (Ramadan, Eid, National Day)
5. Team Leadership & Workforce Management

Lead and manage a large team (department managers, supervisors, floor staff, cashiers)

Plan manpower allocation based on store traffic and peak hours

Train staff on FMCG product knowledge and customer service

Monitor productivity and enforce discipline
6. Customer Experience & Service Excellence

Ensure high standards of customer service across all departments

Handle customer complaints and ensure quick resolution

Maintain store cleanliness, layout, and ease of navigation

Drive loyalty program enrollments and repeat customers
7. Financial & Operational Control

Manage store P&L with focus on FMCG margins and cost control

Monitor daily sales, expenses, shrinkage, and profitability

Ensure proper cash handling, reconciliation, and audit compliance

Implement internal controls to prevent losses
8. E-Commerce & Omnichannel Coordination

Support online order fulfilment and picker operations

Ensure availability of key FMCG items for online platforms (e.g., Talabat)

Improve picking accuracy, speed, and substitution management
-
Align store operations with digital sales growth
9. Compliance, Health & Safety

Ensure compliance with municipality, food safety, and labor regulations
-
Maintain hygiene standards, especially in fresh and food handling areas

Conduct regular safety audits and risk assessments

Qualifications & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Retail Management, or related field

7–12 years of experience in hypermarket / supermarket operations

Minimum 3–5 years as Store Manager in
FMCG-focused retail

Strong experience in
fresh food operations and high-volume FMCG sales
-
GCC/Middle East experience preferred
