Summer Camp Counselor

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children in a variety of camp activities including sports, arts and crafts, theater, and outdoor adventures
• Ensure the safety and well-being of all campers by adhering to safety protocols and emergency procedures
• Manage group dynamics through effective classroom management and behavior management techniques
• Provide first aid when necessary, maintaining calmness and professionalism during minor injuries or health concerns
• Support children with special needs by implementing inclusive strategies aligned with their individual plans
• Foster positive relationships with campers by encouraging teamwork, respect, and kindness
• Collaborate with fellow staff members to plan, organize, and execute daily schedules that promote childhood development and fun

Requirements

• Prior experience working with children in settings such as daycare, babysitting, tutoring, or camp environments is preferred
• Knowledge of childhood development principles and early childhood education practices
• Certification in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain certification if not already certified
• Strong classroom management skills combined with effective behavior management techniques
• Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions while maintaining high energy levels
• Excellent communication skills to connect with children, parents, and team members
• Passion for working with children and creating engaging, educational experiences that support their growth
• Experience in sports coaching, theater arts, or Christian counseling is a plus but not required
