Job Summary:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and strategic Supermarket Purchaser to manage the sourcing and procurement of food, beverages, household goods, and other supermarket inventory. The Purchaser is responsible for ensuring the availability of quality products at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels to meet customer demand.
Key Responsibilities:
- Procurement & Sourcing
- Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, negotiate pricing, terms, and contracts.
- Source products in line with quality, cost, and delivery requirements.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors and monitor supplier performance.
- Inventory Management
- Monitor stock levels and place orders to replenish inventory as needed.
- Forecast demand trends to ensure the right products are available at the right time.
- Prevent overstocking or stockouts through effective planning.
- Cost Control & Budgeting
- Manage purchasing budgets and track expenses.
- Seek opportunities to reduce costs without compromising quality or service.
- Evaluate pricing and profitability of purchased products.
- Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all purchased goods comply with food safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Coordinate with the quality control team to resolve any product issues.
- Reporting & Coordination
- Maintain accurate records of purchases, pricing, and inventory.
- Collaborate with store managers and other departments to understand product needs.
- Generate and analyze reports on purchasing trends and supplier performance.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a purchaser, buyer, or procurement officer (preferably in retail or supermarkets)
- Strong negotiation and communication skills
- Solid knowledge of supply chain and inventory management
- Familiarity with sourcing and vendor management
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and purchasing software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, etc.)
- High attention to detail and strong organizational skills
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, or related field (preferred)
- Relevant certifications
