Supermarket Quality Controller

Job Summary

The Supermarket Quality Controller is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the quality and safety of all products within the supermarket. This role ensures that products comply with company standards, food safety regulations, and proper storage requirements to guarantee customer satisfaction and health.

Key Responsibilities

1. Product Quality Inspection

  • Inspect fresh products such as fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, bakery, and dairy for freshness and quality.
  • Check packaging, labeling, and expiration dates of all products.
  • Remove damaged, expired, or poor-quality items from shelves.

2. Food Safety & Hygiene

  • Ensure compliance with food safety standards such as Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) guidelines.
  • Monitor hygiene practices of staff handling food.
  • Ensure proper sanitation of storage areas, shelves, and equipment.

3. Storage & Temperature Monitoring

  • Check refrigerators, freezers, and storage rooms for correct temperature levels.
  • Ensure products are stored according to FIFO (First In, First Out) principles.
  • Prevent cross-contamination between food categories.

4. Supplier & Delivery Inspection

  • Inspect incoming goods from suppliers.
  • Verify product quality, quantity, and compliance with specifications.
  • Reject or report substandard deliveries.

5. Documentation & Reporting

  • Maintain records of inspections, temperature logs, and quality reports.
  • Report quality issues to the store manager or quality assurance team.
  • Assist in internal and external audits.

6. Customer Safety & Satisfaction

  • Ensure only safe and high-quality products reach customers.
  • Respond to customer complaints regarding product quality.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Quality Control, or related field (preferred).
  • Certification in Food Safety / HACCP is an advantage.
  • 1–3 years experience in supermarket, food retail, or quality control.

Work Environment

  • Supermarkets, hypermarkets, or retail food stores.
  • Work may include cold storage areas, warehouses, and shop floor inspections.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: QAR2,500.00 - QAR3,000.00 per month
