System Control Engineer (Transmission Network Analysis)

Preferred Qualification

• PhD in Engineering.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree (BSc) in Electrical Engineering.
• Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 20+ years of experience in electrical power system studies (utility or consultancy environment).
• At least 15+ years of hands-on experience with power system analysis software:
• PSS®E
• DIgSILENT PowerFactory
• PSCAD
• 5+ years of leadership experience.

Objective

To provide advanced technical analysis and power system modeling support for transmission network planning activities, ensuring grid reliability, security, and optimal expansion aligned with future load growth and operational requirements.

Major Duties & Responsibilities

• Conduct transmission system modeling, steady-state load flow, and dynamic/transient analysis using tools such as PSS®E and DIgSILENT.
• Perform electromagnetic transient analysis using PSCAD.
• Conduct generation interconnection impact studies.
• Perform comprehensive load forecasting and scenario analysis to anticipate future network requirements.
• Validate and update network models to reflect current and projected system configurations.
• Identify system weaknesses, bottlenecks, and reliability issues, recommending suitable reinforcement or upgrade solutions.
• Support the transmission planning team in integrating study outcomes into long-term expansion plans.
• Research emerging policies, renewable energy regulations, and industry guidelines.
• Assist in scenario studies including:
• Generation integration
• Demand growth variations
• Renewable energy and inverter-based resource impacts on system stability
• Ensure compliance with Kahramaa standards, grid codes, and international best practices (IEEE, IEC).
• Prepare comprehensive technical reports and presentations to support planning decisions and investment proposals.
• Encourage innovation in technologies and work practices to improve team performance.
• Train and mentor junior engineers.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
