Job purpose:

The Tactical Buyer is responsible for supporting procurement operations through effective sourcing execution, spend analytics, supplier coordination, and Procure-to-Pay (P2P) activities. The role focuses on driving cost efficiency, ensuring timely procurement execution, and supporting strategic sourcing initiatives across indirect and/or direct spend categories.


Key Responsibilities:

Procurement & Sourcing Support

  • Execute day-to-day procurement activities across Procure-to-Pay (P2P) and/or Strategic Sourcing processes.
  • Support sourcing initiatives by preparing RFQs/RFPs, analyzing supplier bids, and assisting in supplier selection processes.
  • Conduct spend analysis and support cost-saving initiatives through data-driven insights.
  • Spend Analytics & Commercial Analysis
  • Perform spend and cost modeling, including Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis.
  • Prepare supplier bid comparisons, balance scorecards, and contract performance reports.
  • Translate contract terms and commercial data into clear analytical reports for stakeholders.
  • Category & Supplier Management Support
  • Support indirect sourcing categories and/or direct sourcing commodities, ensuring compliance with sourcing strategies.
  • Assist in supplier performance tracking and reporting against agreed KPIs.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements, cost optimization, and supplier consolidation.


Operational & Technical Responsibilities:

Procurement Operations

  • Monitor and follow up on Purchase Requisitions (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs) to ensure timely processing and closure.
  • Manage procurement escalations to expedite purchasing activities in coordination with business stakeholders.
  • Provide active backup support to the team on invoice follow-ups, payment issues, and shared mailbox/email management.

Risk & Issue Management

  • Proactively anticipate, identify, and highlight potential risks or challenges related to suppliers, contracts, or internal stakeholders.
  • Support resolution of operational issues impacting service delivery or supplier performance.
  • Ensure adherence to procurement policies, procedures, and internal controls.

Systems & Tools

  • Utilize sourcing and analytics tools such as SAP, MM/SRM, SMART, Docusign and Ariba to support procurement activities.
  • Develop and maintain Excel- and Access-based analytical models to support sourcing and spend analysis.
  • Prepare professional PowerPoint presentations for internal reviews, management updates, and stakeholder communication.


Minimum requirements of role

Essential:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related field.
  • Strong proficiency in English with excellent written, verbal, listening, and comprehension skills for global stakeholder interaction.

Desirable:

  • 3 to 6 years of experience in Procurement Analytics, Indirect Procurement, Spend Management, Category Management, or Strategic Sourcing support roles.
  • Experience within industry, consulting, or outsourcing/shared services environments.
  • Experience with Power BI or similar data visualization tools will be considered as a plus.
  • Knowledge of additional languages such as Arabic or other regional/global languages will be considered a strong advantage.
