The Mandate
Maks Global Service is seeking a seasoned and authoritative Tax & Compliance Director to lead our regional regulatory strategy from our Al Seeb executive offices. As the Sultanate’s fiscal landscape evolves with new VAT regulations and corporate tax frameworks, we require a leader who can ensure total institutional integrity. You will be the primary guardian of our legal and financial standing, transforming compliance from a reactive necessity into a strategic advantage for our global service operations.
Executive Responsibilities
- Strategic Tax Governance: Design and implement a robust tax framework that ensures 100% compliance with Oman Tax Authority regulations, including VAT, Corporate Tax, and Withholding Tax.
- Regulatory Compliance Oversight: Lead the group’s adherence to the Sultanate’s commercial laws, anti-money laundering (AML) protocols, and Data Privacy standards.
- Internal Audit & Risk Mitigation: Establish a rigorous internal audit cycle to identify and neutralize potential compliance risks before they impact the organization.
- Government & Authority Liaison: Serve as the principal point of contact for the Ministry of Finance, the Oman Tax Authority, and other statutory bodies for all audits and inquiries.
- Cross-Border Tax Strategy: Manage transfer pricing documentation and international tax implications for cross-border service contracts, ensuring optimized and compliant fiscal positioning.
- Compliance Training & Culture: Architect a culture of "Compliance by Design," training senior leadership and operational teams on regulatory updates and ethical business practices.
Professional Profile
- Minimum 15 years of experience in tax, legal, or financial compliance, with at least 5 years in a Director-level capacity within the GCC.
- Mandatory Qualifications: Professional certification in Tax (e.g., CTA, ADIT) or Finance (CA, ACCA) is essential. A legal background (LLB/LLM) is a significant advantage.
- Deep mastery of the Omani Tax Law and a proven track record of successful high-stakes audits.
- Exceptional negotiation and diplomacy skills, with the ability to represent the firm at the highest levels of government.
- Bilingual Command: Absolute professional fluency in both English and Arabic is mandatory for interpreting Omani law and liaising with authorities.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Law, or a related field.
