Tax Preparer (Part-Time)

Pay: $15.00 – $18.50 per hour
Schedule: 3-4 Days Per Week (Approximately 24–30 Hours)
Work Location: In Person (Not Remote - 9am - 5pm)

Job Summary

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Tax Preparer to join our team on a part-time basis. This position is ideal for an experienced tax professional who enjoys preparing accurate tax returns, working directly with clients, and helping individuals and small businesses navigate the tax filing process.

The successful candidate should be comfortable preparing a variety of tax returns, identifying deductions and credits, and maintaining a high level of accuracy and professionalism.

Responsibilities

• Prepare federal and state individual income tax returns (Form 1040 and related schedules)
• Prepare amended tax returns (Form 1040-X)
• Prepare business tax returns, including Forms 1120, 1120S, and 1065, when applicable
• Review W-2s, 1099s, K-1s, financial statements, and supporting documentation
• Identify eligible deductions and tax credits to help minimize client tax liability
• Ensure returns comply with current federal and state tax laws
• Communicate professionally with clients to request missing information or clarify tax matters
• Maintain organized client files and documentation
• Work efficiently to meet deadlines while maintaining accuracy

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of tax preparation experience preferred
• Experience preparing Form 1040 individual tax returns required
• Experience preparing business tax returns is a plus
• Experience using Drake Tax Software is strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of federal tax laws and regulations
• Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects
• Strong communication and customer service skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus, but not required
• Enrolled Agent (EA), CPA, or Annual Filing Season Program participation is a plus, but not required
