TECHNICAL JOINERY DRAFTMANS

Job Summary

The Technical Joinery Draftsperson is responsible for producing accurate technical drawings and documentation for bespoke and commercial joinery projects. With a minimum of three years’ experience, the role requires strong technical knowledge of joinery construction, materials, and manufacturing processes to support production, procurement, and site installation.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Drawing & Documentation

• Produce detailed joinery workshop drawings, sections, and details
• Prepare manufacturing and installation drawings from design information
• Ensure drawings are accurate, fully detailed, and suitable for production
• Revise and update drawings to reflect design changes and site conditions

Coordination & Support

• Liaise with project managers, production teams, and installers to clarify technical requirements
• Coordinate with designers, architects, and consultants as required
• Provide technical support during manufacturing and installation

Materials & Specifications

• Specify materials, finishes, hardware, and fittings in line with project requirements
• Prepare cutting lists and material schedules where required
• Ensure compliance with relevant standards and client specifications

Quality & Compliance

• Ensure drawings comply with joinery best practice, building regulations, and company standards
• Identify potential design or manufacturing issues and propose solutions
• Support quality control processes by ensuring technical accuracy

Project Delivery

• Manage drawing workloads to meet project programmes and deadlines
• Maintain organised drawing registers and project documentation
• Assist with as-built drawings and handover documentation

Skills & Experience

Essential

• Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Joinery Draftsperson or Technical Detailer
• Strong knowledge of joinery construction methods and materials
• Ability to read and interpret architectural and interior design drawings
• Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD essential; SolidWorks / Inventor / Cabinet Vision / Microvellum desirable)
• High attention to detail and accuracy

Desirable

• Experience in bespoke, commercial, or high-end joinery projects
• Knowledge of CNC manufacturing processes
• Understanding of site installation requirements
• Experience producing cutting lists or schedules
