Temporary Technical Assistant

Temporary Technical Assistant Reporting to the Associate Director of BCIT Systems, the Temporary Systems Support position is a technical support role that provides operational and systems support, assisting our system administrators with their duties and projects. The position is hybrid, 9:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday and has an expected duration of 12 weeks.

• Manage the work queue and propose resolution courses of action.
• Monitor, troubleshoot, and resolve incidents related to servers and applications.
• Resolve TeamDynamix service request tickets, as assigned by the AD of IT Systems, including DNS requests, Google mailbox troubleshooting, extension requests, and other daily operations.
• Perform on-campus hardware maintenance.
• Update BCIT knowledge base as directed.
• Perform related duties as assigned.

• Must have strong scripting skills.
• Ability to deal with sensitive information with confidentiality and tact.
• Ability to complete assigned tasks with precision and accuracy.
• Familiarity with automated testing tools, such as Selenium.
• Experience with SAML and Oauth authentication.
• Ability to work both independently and in a collaborative team environment.
• Adaptable and able to manage and incorporate change.
• Ability to interact positively and appropriately with a wide variety of users.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

• Bachelor's degree plus a minimum of 1 year of experience in customer service and/or desktop computer setup/support.
• Familiarity with server operating systems
• Familiarity with the common user software environment (e.g., GMail, Microsoft Office, web browsers, email applications, etc.)

• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull a variety of equipment and materials weighing as much as 25 lbs as needed.
• Ability to bend, stretch, and crouch for prolonged periods
