Transport & Maintenance Manager

Job description

We are seeking a responsible and proactive Transport & Maintenance Manager to oversee school transportation operations and campus maintenance activities for our current and future educational institution projects. The role involves managing vehicles, drivers, safety compliance, infrastructure upkeep, and vendor coordination to ensure smooth daily operations.

Role & responsibilities

Transport Management (School Operations)

  • Manage school transport operations including buses, vans, and other vehicles.
  • Plan and monitor daily routes, pickup and drop schedules.
  • Ensure student safety and compliance with school transport regulations.
  • Supervise drivers, helpers, and transport staff.
  • Maintain transport logs, attendance, and fuel records.

Vehicle Maintenance & Compliance

  • Ensure timely servicing, repairs, and maintenance of all vehicles.
  • Track vehicle documents: RC, insurance, permits, fitness certificates, pollution certificates.
  • Coordinate with workshops, RTO offices, and service vendors.
  • Ensure compliance with local transport and school safety norms.

Campus & Facility Maintenance

  • Oversee maintenance of school buildings, classrooms, hostels, and common areas.
  • Monitor electrical, plumbing, water supply, sanitation, and basic civil works.
  • Conduct regular inspections and preventive maintenance.
  • Ensure safety, cleanliness, and hygiene standards are met.

Vendor & Inventory Management

  • Coordinate with maintenance vendors and contractors.
  • Track inventory of spare parts, tools, and maintenance materials.
  • Control maintenance expenses and avoid unnecessary costs.

Reporting & Coordination

  • Prepare daily / weekly reports on transport and maintenance activities.
  • Coordinate with school management and administrative teams.
  • Handle emergency situations related to transport or infrastructure

Preferred candidate profile

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • Diploma or Bachelors degree.
  • Minimum 3 - 6 years of experience in transport management, facility maintenance, or school administration.
  • Experience in schools or educational institutions is preferred.

Technical / Functional Skills:

  • Knowledge of vehicle maintenance and transport regulations.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing, and building maintenance.
  • Ability to maintain records and reports.

Soft Skills:

  • Strong supervision and people-management skills
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • High sense of responsibility and ownership
  • Ability to work independently in a campus-based environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience handling school transport operations
  • Knowledge of student safety and transport compliance norms
  • Basic computer knowledge (MS Excel / reporting tools)

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹35,000.00 - ₹42,000.00 per month
