UBL is looking for incumbents as
Manager/Unit Head - Imports
in its International Operations functions to manage and oversee the bank’s import operations, ensuring accurate and timely processing of import letters of credit, documentary collections, import advance payments and open accounts and other related transactions. The role requires compliance with guidelines of Central Banks of UAE, Qatar and Bahrain and internal policies, while delivering efficient client service and mitigating operational risks.
Key Responsibilities

Handle inward documentary collections under URC 522 and import advance payments and open accounts in accordance with regulations.

Monitor and manage import bills under acceptance, ensuring timely settlement at maturity.

Liaise with correspondent banks and internal teams to resolve day to day issues.

Supervise import letters of credit (LCs) issuance, amendments, document examination, and settlements.

Ensure all import transactions comply with guidelines of Central Banks of UAE, Qatar and Bahrain, AML/KYC standards, and internal control frameworks.

Conduct sanction and compliance checks on import transactions and report suspicious activities as required.

Provide advisory support to relevant teams in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain regarding import documentation and regulatory guidelines.

Work closely with, relevant teams in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain teams for smooth transaction execution.

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly MIS reports on import transactions, pending documents, and in coordination with relevant teams in UAE, Qatar and Bahrain.

Address client queries and ensure service excellence.
Qualifications & Experience

Master’s/Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.

5–7 years of relevant experience in import/trade finance operations within a bank.

Trade finance certifications will be an added advantage.
Key skills and Competencies

Strong knowledge of ICC Publications, import trade finance practices and compliance requirements.

Analytical and detail-oriented approach with strong problem-solving ability.

Excellent communication and coordination skills with clients and internal teams.

Proficiency in banking systems and MS Office applications.
