Upwork Business Development Manager (Ebook Publishing)

Job Overview:

We are looking for a result-driven Upwork Business Development Manager who will be responsible for generating business through Upwork and other freelancing platforms. The ideal candidate must have experience in bidding, client communication, lead generation, and closing deals, especially in the ebook writing, publishing, and formatting niche.

This role is focused on increasing company revenue by acquiring international clients and maintaining long-term relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and bid on relevant projects on Upwork daily
  • Write customized, high-converting proposals for ebook writing, publishing, formatting, and design services
  • Communicate with clients via Upwork chat, Zoom, and calls to understand requirements
  • Handle end-to-end client communication from initial contact to deal closing
  • Generate leads through Upwork, LinkedIn, email outreach, and cold calling
  • Schedule and conduct discovery calls / sales calls with potential clients
  • Maintain proper follow-ups to convert leads into paying clients
  • Collaborate with internal teams (writers, designers) to prepare accurate proposals
  • Negotiate pricing, timelines, and project scope with clients
  • Manage Upwork profile, improve rankings, and optimize bidding strategy
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly performance (bids, responses, conversions)
  • Achieve monthly revenue and project acquisition targets

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an Upwork Bidder / Business Development Manager
  • Strong understanding of Upwork bidding system and algorithms
  • Experience in ebook niche (ghostwriting, Amazon KDP, formatting, cover design) is a plus
  • Excellent written and spoken English
  • Strong sales, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Ability to handle client calls confidently
  • Experience with CRM tools or lead tracking sheets
  • Self-motivated, target-driven, and able to work independently

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of Amazon KDP, ebook publishing process
  • Experience with LinkedIn outreach & email marketing
  • Understanding of international client handling (US, UK markets)

KPIs / Performance Metrics:

  • Number of bids submitted daily
  • Response rate & interview rate
  • Number of calls scheduled
  • Conversion rate (leads to clients)
  • Monthly revenue generated
