Veterinary Assistant

We’re looking for a compassionate, reliable Veterinary Assistant to join our team! This is a unique hybrid role combining client communication, nursing care, and administrative support in a specialty internal medicine setting.

Animal Internal Medicine Consultants is a collaborative, supportive team focused on custom, compassionate care for pets and their parents. This position offers a mix of in-clinic and remote work, with clinical days in Carmel (Wednesdays) and Santa Cruz (Thursdays), and remote support on non-clinical days.

Flexibility to assist on occasional Fridays is required.

Responsibilities

• Assist DVMs and technicians with exams, treatments, and procedures
• Safely restrain patients and obtain vitals (HR, RR, temp, weight, etc.)
• Perform technical skills (phlebotomy, radiographs, IV catheter placement, anesthesia monitoring, etc. as trained)
• Prepare exam rooms and support appointment flow
• Fill medications and communicate with outside pharmacies
• Provide client communication and discharge instructions
• Support remote tasks including client calls/emails, Rx refills, scheduling, and medical record management

Qualifications

• Veterinary experience required
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Comfortable with client communication and computer systems
• Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
• Comfortable working both in clinic and remotely
• Interest in advancing nursing knowledge

Schedule & Pay

• Clinical days: Wednesday (Carmel) & Thursday (Santa Cruz)
• Remote/administrative work on non-clinical days
• Flexibility for occasional Fridays required
• $20–$24/hour DOE
