Visual Merchandiser - Furniture

Visual Merchandiser (Part-Time)

The Well / Big Daddy’s Antiques

Summerland, Montecito & Carpinteria, CA

About Us

The Well is a curated home and garden retail concept operated by Big Daddy’s Antiques. We specialize in high-end furniture, vintage pieces, garden objects, and interior styling. Our three locations — Summerland, Montecito, and The Well Gardens in Carpinteria — function as active showrooms where product presentation and aesthetic detail directly drive sales.

We are seeking an experienced visual merchandiser with a strong design eye to maintain the visual standard of our stores and assist with staging and design projects.

This is not a traditional retail sales role. This is a hands-on merchandising and styling position for someone who understands furniture scale, composition, and showroom presentation.

Position Overview

The Visual Merchandiser is responsible for maintaining and evolving the look and feel of all three store locations. This role focuses on styling, resetting, and organizing the showroom floors as inventory changes and new product arrives.

The position also assists ownership and staff on design and staging installs for client projects.

The ideal candidate has significant experience working in a furniture showroom, interior design firm, staging company, or similar environment and can work independently with minimal direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Style and maintain furniture displays and vignettes across all locations
  • Re-merchandise showroom floors as new inventory arrives
  • Reset displays to maintain a clean, high-end presentation
  • Assist with in-store seasonal updates and layout changes
  • Assist with interior design and home staging installations
  • Maintain visual consistency between Summerland, Montecito, and The Well Gardens
  • Identify areas of the store that feel cluttered, unbalanced, or incomplete and correct them independently

This role is primarily behind-the-scenes and merchandising focused, not a commissioned sales position.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Part-time (~15-25 hours per week)
  • Weekdays (Monday–Friday) are most important
  • Typical working hours fall between 10:00 AM – 5:30 PM
  • Schedule varies based on merchandising needs and staging projects
  • Work is performed across three locations

This position requires travel between:

The Well – Summerland

The Well – Montecito

The Well Gardens – Carpinteria

Reliable personal transportation is required.
