Ward Boy

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist patients with mobility (shifting from bed to wheelchair, stretcher, etc.).
• Maintain cleanliness and hygiene of patient wards, beds, and surroundings.
• Support nurses and doctors in carrying out day-to-day patient care activities.
• Provide bedpans, urinals, and assist with patient toileting needs.
• Help in changing bed linens and maintaining a hygienic environment.
• Carry food, drinking water, and medicines to patients as directed by nursing staff.
• Transfer patients for diagnostic tests, operation theatres, and other departments.
• Dispose of medical waste as per hospital protocols.
• Assist in shifting deceased patients respectfully to the mortuary.
• Respond promptly to patient calls and inform the concerned nurse/doctor.
• Maintain confidentiality and treat patients with dignity and respect.

Skills & Competencies:

• Basic knowledge of patient care and hygiene.
• Physical strength and stamina for lifting/shifting patients.
• Good communication and helping attitude.
• Ability to follow instructions from nurses and doctors.
• Awareness of infection control practices.

Qualifications:

• Minimum: 8th / 10th Standard Pass.
• Prior experience in hospital or healthcare settings preferred.
• Basic training in patient handling is an added advantage.

Work Conditions:

• Rotational shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Exposure to patients, medical waste, and emergency situations.
