Warehouse Safety Manager

What you'll do: Safety Compliance:
  • Assist in ensuring warehouse operations comply with Occupational Safety standards and local safety regulations.
  • Stay informed about warehouse safety standards and laws under the guidance of senior safety personnel.
Risk Assessment:
  • Participate in regular safety audits and risk assessments to help identify potential hazards.
  • Support in recommending corrective actions to mitigate identified risks and assist in the implementation process.
Incident Management:
  • Aid in investigating accidents, incidents, and near-misses in the warehouse, documenting findings and recommendations.
  • Help maintain accurate records of incidents and follow up on corrective measures under supervision.
Training & Education:
  • Assist in developing and conducting safety training programs for warehouse staff, focusing on basic safety protocols and equipment usage.
  • Support efforts to ensure employees are aware of and adhere to safety procedures.
Emergency Preparedness:
  • Help in developing and reviewing emergency response plans, including participating in evacuation drills.
  • Assist in checking that fire safety equipment, alarms, and emergency exits are functional and properly marked.
Safety Inspections:
  • Participate in regular inspections of warehouse facilities, machinery, and equipment to ensure adherence to safety standards.
  • Assist in ensuring proper storage and handling of hazardous materials (if applicable).
Health & Safety Reporting:
  • Support preparation of monthly safety performance reports for management, highlighting key issues and recommendations.
  • Communicate safety updates to warehouse management and staff under the guidance of experienced safety officers.
PPE Management:
  • Assist in overseeing the use and maintenance of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Ensure that all workers have the necessary PPE and that it is being used correctly.
Collaboration with Management:
  • Work alongside warehouse managers and supervisors to integrate safety practices into daily operations.
  • Contribute insights on safety improvements and the needs of safety equipment as directed by senior staff.
Continuous Improvement:
  • Identify opportunities to enhance safety processes and reduce risks through new procedures or practices.
  • Stay updated on basic safety trends and practices to support safety initiatives.
What you'll need:
  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or a related field (or ongoing studies in this area).
  • NEBOSH IGC certification is required.
  • A valid driving license.
  • Relevant internship or practical experience in safety practices is a plus, but not mandatory.
  • Basic knowledge of risk assessment and hazard identification.
  • Strong willingness to learn about incident investigation processes and reporting.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with an emphasis on teamwork.
  • Attention to detail and a proactive approach to learning and problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Must know how to use Microsoft office.
