Summary:
At Harcros Chemicals Inc., an employee-owned company with a rich legacy in specialty chemical manufacturing and distribution, we're continuously expanding. With 2 manufacturing plants and 27 distribution facilities across 20 states, we're seeking a dedicated Operations Manager professional to join our team to assist with opportunities. Reporting to the District Manager, this role will be overseeing the activities of clerical, warehouse, and driving teams ensuring effective coordination and operations.
Primary Responsibilities & Duties:
  • Work with office/purchasing personnel to ensure adequate stock levels and help with the coordination with suppliers and transport companies.
  • Review proposals and negotiate contracts within budget limits and authority scope.
  • Meet with suppliers and sales representatives to negotiate contracts and resolve customer issues and complaints.
  • Schedule production, process orders, and oversee packaging of products.
  • Complete and maintain the required company and regulatory reports.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and conduct safety inspections.
  • Ensure compliance with EPA and OSHA regulations and coordinate customer site inspections and safety seminars.
  • Coordinate truck routing and delivery schedules, oversee truck and warehouse maintenance.
  • Analyze and streamline office operations such as payroll, bookkeeping, correspondence, filing, and other clerical services.
  • Approve invoices for payment and assist District Managers and Sales with price quotations.
  • Other job duties may be assigned.

  • Job duties may also result in:
    • Generate, handle, and/or inspect hazardous waste and hazardous waste storage.
    • Respond or manage hazardous waste spills and incidents based on the site’s emergency action or contingency plan.
    • Prepare and manage hazardous waste records such as manifests, inspection logs, waste determination and other reports.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Manages 1-3 subordinate supervisors overseeing a team of 1-9 employees in roles such as drivers, warehouse staff, and office personnel. Responsibilities include:
  • Conducting interviews, hiring, and training staff
  • Assigning and directing work, evaluating performance
  • Managing discipline, rewards, and resolving employee concerns
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies and legal regulations
  • Fostering an environment where safety is prioritized in all daily operations.
  • Actively mentor and coach team members and support to help them improve performance and grow within the organization.
Education and/or Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university,
  • 5-10 years of relevant experience; including 2-4 years in a supervisory role.
  • Chemical Experience is a plus.
  • Class A CDL is preferred.
  • And/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Physical Capabilities & Requirements:
  • Physical requirements include lifting and moving various weights up to 100 pounds.
  • Physical requirements will also include standing or sitting for long periods of time.
  • Visual abilities include close vision, color vision, and depth perception.
  • Safely work with hazardous chemicals and use the required PPE.
Work Environment:
  • Work environment includes exposure to outdoor weather conditions and mechanical equipment.
  • Occasional exposure to chemicals.
  • Noise level is moderate to loud.
  • Occasionally work at elevated and heights.
