Position Title: Accountant

Department: Finance

Position reports to: Sr. Accounting Manager

Primary purpose and function of position:

The position supports the day-to-day operations of the finance department. Responsibilities include accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll and month-end financial close responsibilities.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with collection of accounts receivable
  • Post payments and credit memos to customer accounts
  • Review accounts receivable aging report, contact delinquent accounts to resolve unpaid balances
  • Review, code and enter invoices into the accounts payables system; ensure all appropriate documentation and approvals have been received
  • Review accounts receivable and accounts payable emails, process activity as required
  • Investigate and resolve customer/supplier/vendor inquiries
  • Assist with answering incoming calls
  • Support processing of weekly and bi-weekly payrolls
  • Perform month-end financial close activities, including preparation and posting of journal entries and general ledger account reconciliations
  • Assist with cash transactions and monthly bank reconciliations
  • Download credit card statements, circulate to cardholders and ensure proper support is received for all expenses
  • Prepare and submit monthly liquor control reports
  • Prepare monthly invoices for promotions, samples, donations, etc.
  • Manage the retention of documents by electronic scanning and filing
  • Ensure records are maintained in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business Administration or related field preferred; High school diploma or GED certificate required
  • Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
  • Proficient computer skills with an emphasis in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Ability to analyze financial data
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Self-motivated with a positive attitude, strong initiative and follow-through
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Professionalism and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Regular and reliable attendance
  • Ability to pass a required pre-employment background and drug screening
