As a Senior Sales Engineer – Aftersales (Retrofit), you’ll play a key role in driving retrofit and service sales growth, ensuring customer satisfaction, and expanding SKM’s after-sales footprint across the region.


Role Overview


The Application Engineer – Mechanical supports the end-to-end processing of HVAC product orders—standard and customized—by translating project requirements into accurate work orders, technical documentation, and submittals. The role collaborates closely with Sales, Operations, Design, and Drafting to ensure correct material selection, documentation accuracy, and on-time delivery. The engineer also contributes to software/database inputs, product catalogues, and compliance with regional and international standards.


Key Responsibilities


Work Order Processing


  • Prepare accurate work orders for both standard and customized jobs within agreed timelines.
  • Select appropriate materials per project specifications and design guidelines; propose alternate materials from existing inventory to improve delivery timelines.
  • Verify and approve drawings prepared by draughtsmen during order processing.
  • Maintain job history and related databases; process modification requests.
  • Coordinate and follow up with Operations/Production (OPT) and Sales on all work order issues and clarifications.


Technical Documentation (Catalogues, IOM, Technical Data, Specifications)


  • Develop and update product catalogues and Installation, Operation & Maintenance (IOM) manuals.
  • Prepare Technical Data Sheets and Item Specification Sheets.
  • Create and maintain item codes in line with defined nomenclature and company standards.


Software & Data


  • Review and validate selection software outputs and catalogue ratings.
  • Prepare and maintain technical databases required for software development and product selection tools.


Contract Review & Submittals (CRF)


  • Prepare technical data and drawings for non-standard products in coordination with Design Engineers.
  • Provide technical data and documentation packages for project submittals to Sales and Clients.


Qualifications


Education


  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.


Experience


  • 3–6 years of experience in HVAC application engineering and/or product design within an AC manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated experience in designing and developing standard and customized HVAC products.
  • Exposure to testing and certification of HVAC products to regional and international standards (e.g., AHRI, ASHRAE, ISO, SASO, ESMA or equivalent).


Technical Skills


  • Strong knowledge of HVAC systems, component selection, and materials per project specifications.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD for drawing review and markups.
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Experience with ERP systems for work order processing and item coding.
  • Familiarity with HVAC selection software and catalogue ratings; ability to validate and troubleshoot results.


Soft Skills


  • Strong communication and coordination skills across Sales, Operations, and Design teams.
  • Detail-oriented with solid documentation discipline.
  • Analytical mindset with effective problem-solving and time management skills.


Preferred (Nice to Have)


  • Experience contributing to technical databases for software tools.
  • Knowledge of regional compliance, documentation formats for submittals, and client-facing technical support.
  • Prior experience with product coding/nomenclature systems in a manufacturing context.


Authorities & Interfaces


  • Authorities: Approve/verify drawings for work order processing; recommend material substitutions; validate selection outputs.
  • Internal Interfaces: Sales, Operations/Production, Drafting, Design Engineering, Quality.
  • External Interfaces: Vendors (materials), Clients/Consultants (technical submittals) as needed.
