Job Summary:
We are seeking a competent and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to support financial operations across a group of companies.
This role includes overseeing day-to-day accounting tasks, managing a team of junior accountants, ensuring accurate data entry,
and coordinating closely with the Senior Accountant to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and financial planning.
Key Responsibilities:
Accounting Operations:
- Supervise and review day-to-day accounting functions across multiple entities (group companies).
- Oversee accurate data entry and transaction recording by the accounts team.
- Monitor and manage accounts payable and receivable processes.
- Review and post journal entries, invoices, payments, and other transactions.
Team Supervision:
- Lead and mentor a team of 4 junior accountants.
- Review team output for accuracy, completeness, and compliance with company standards.
- Allocate tasks effectively and ensure timely completion of responsibilities.
- Provide training and ongoing support to team members.
Reporting & Reconciliation:
- Assist the Senior Accountant in preparing consolidated financial reports.
- Perform reconciliations for bank accounts, intercompany transactions, and ledgers.
- Support month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Prepare financial data for audits and assist during audit reviews.
ERP & Software Management:
- Utilize and manage entries within ERP systems (e.g., Odoo) and QuickBooks.
- Ensure data integrity across financial platforms and accounting tools.
- Collaborate with the Senior Accountant during ERP implementation and process improvements.
Compliance & Internal Controls:
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls.
- Support the maintenance of accurate financial documentation and records.
- Assist in VAT/tax documentation and liaise with consultants as needed.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
- 3–5 years of experience in accounting, including at least 1 year in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience handling group company accounts is preferred.
- Proficiency in Odoo, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles, reconciliation, and data validation.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to manage a small team and multitask in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of UAE accounting and tax regulations is a plus.
