Associate Manager Import & Purchase

Job Description

The Associate Manager – Purchase & Import is responsible for managing procurement activities and overseeing the import process to ensure timely availability of materials, cost efficiency, and compliance with company policies and international trade regulations. The role involves vendor management, purchase order processing, import documentation, and coordination with logistics, finance, and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of import regulations, ensuring full compliance with customs and trade laws.
  • Oversee the creation and management of purchase orders, including vendor selection, negotiation of terms, and tracking of order fulfilment.
  • Negotiate with suppliers to secure favorable pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules, maximizing value and minimizing risk.
  • Implement and maintain efficient inventory management strategies to optimize stock levels and minimize carrying costs.
  • Coordinate logistics activities, including transportation, warehousing, and customs clearance, to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of goods.
  • Conduct regular cost analysis and reporting to identify areas for improvement and drive cost savings initiatives.
  • Analyze data to identify trends, forecast demand, and provide recommendations for process improvements within the import and purchasing functions.
  • Handle end-to-end import processes including supplier coordination, shipment tracking, and delivery schedules.
  • Prepare and verify import documentation such as commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and LC documents.
  • Coordinate with freight forwarders, clearing agents, and shipping companies to ensure smooth customs clearance.
  • Ensure compliance with import regulations, duties, and customs requirements.
  • Monitor shipment timelines and resolve delays or logistics issues.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field.

Experience

  • 4–6 years of experience in procurement, purchasing, or import operations.
  • Experience dealing with international suppliers, freight forwarders, and customs procedures.
