We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Automotive Content Specialist to join our creative team. In this role, you will craft compelling digital content that showcases our extensive vehicle inventory, enhances our online presence, and engages automotive enthusiasts across multiple platforms. Your expertise in content strategy, digital marketing, and multimedia production will drive brand visibility and foster a passionate community of collectors and fans.

Join Mecum Auctions, host of The World's Largest Collector Car Auction®, as an Automotive Content Specialist within our Automotive Content team. This role is pivotal in crafting, refining, and updating high-quality, objective, fact-driven vehicle descriptions for Mecum Auctions events, often at a rapid pace.

As an Automotive Content Specialist, you'll be instrumental in creating accurate, clear, and consistent content that informs, entertains, and engages our audience while upholding the highest standards of accuracy and credibility, maintaining the company’s trusted reputation within the collector car community. While being an automotive or motorcycle expert isn’t a requirement, possessing a solid knowledge of automobiles and a passion for automotive history will enhance your ability to excel in this role. The role also includes travel to live auction events to support on-site operations and customer engagement.

Core Responsibilities

Lot Listing Creation & Review

  • Create and publish professional, factual and compelling lot listings for vehicles, encompassing diverse categories such as American muscle, European exotics, luxury classics, vintage SUVs, motorcycles and more.
  • Edit and refine consignor-provided descriptions for clarity, accuracy, and objectivity.
  • Interpret consignor-submitted information, documentation, and photography to create clear, accurate descriptions.
  • Ensure all listings adhere to company style guidelines, tone standards, and industry conventions.
  • Verify vehicle specifications, production details, claims and historical context when applicable.
  • Communicate directly with customers to clarify vehicle details, confirm specifications and obtain additional supporting information.
  • Provide professional guidance to customers on strengthening and substantiating their vehicle descriptions.
  • Request and organize documentation, restoration records, ownership history and other supporting materials.
  • Collaborate with other departments to ensure accuracy of vehicle information across all platforms, resolve problems and deliver an exceptional customer experience.

Auction Travel & On-Site Support

  • Travel to auction events to assist with listing updates, corrections, and customer inquiries.
  • Support customers on-site with description enhancements.
  • Collaborate with on-site teams to ensure accurate lot presentation at the event.

Qualifications

  • Exceptional grammar, editing, and proofreading skills.
  • Experience in Automotive History, Communications, Marketing or a related field.
  • 2+ years of customer service experience, preferably in the car market.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Keen attention to detail and commitment to factual accuracy.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office.
  • Passion for and knowledge of the automotive industry.
  • Travel will be required to multiple auctions per year, as well as to on-site consignment visits, when applicable.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
