About East 5th Coffee

East 5th Coffee is a neighborhood coffee concept at Padel39 in East Austin - a warm, third-space environment built as much for the East Austin community as for Padel39 members. We're not a specialty destination defined by extraction technique. We're the place the neighborhood comes back to because it feels like theirs.

Great coffee is non-negotiable. But what makes East 5th work is hospitality - the kind that makes guests feel genuinely welcome before they've placed their order. We're opening in May 2026, and we're hiring the team that will set the tone for everything that comes after.

The Role

As a Barista at East 5th Coffee, you're the person guests interact with first and remember most. Our focus is linking genuine hospitality with expertly crafted beverages - ensuring every guest feels welcome from the moment they walk through our doors to the moment they decide to leave. You'll prepare our full beverage menu, create the kind of experience that turns a first visit into a regular habit, and set the tone for what East 5th Coffee is every single shift.

What We're Looking For

• Previous experience in a cafe, coffee shop, or hospitality environment - at least one year preferred
• Genuine warmth with guests - the kind that doesn't require effort
• A willingness to learn the menu thoroughly and hold it to standard
• Someone who takes pride in a clean, organized station and a well-run shift
• Comfort with POS systems is a plus (we use Union POS)

What You'll Do

• Prepare and serve East 5th Coffee's full beverage menu: espresso drinks, matcha, and smoothies
• Greet every guest warmly and create the kind of interaction that makes East 5th feel like a neighborhood place, not a transaction
• Operate and maintain all equipment to standard every shift
• Maintain wholesale food display - presentation, freshness, and rotation throughout service
• Complete opening, mid-shift, and closing checklists accurately and on time
• Monitor product levels and communicate low stock to your lead or management team
• Keep the East 5th Coffee environment clean, organized, and genuinely inviting from open to close
• Always operate in compliance with applicable Texas health and food safety regulations

Compensation and Schedule

Pay: $12.00/hr plus tips (all-day East 5th Coffee tip pool, allocated by hours worked)

Hours: Availability must encompass all or part of 6am-4pm, with operating hours being 7am-3pm. Full-time and part-time positions available. Schedule to be finalized with GM upon hire.

Start Date: Target May 2026 for pre-opening training and onboarding
