Job Overview
We are an established commercial real estate and property management company seeking a dynamic and detail oriented Bookkeeper / Accounting Professional to join our accounting team! In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records for our real estate portfolio, supporting property-level accounting functions, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards and internal financial controls. The ideal candidate will assist with day-to-day accounting activities, financial reporting, reconciliations, and other accounting functions that support the financial operations of our properties and organization. Experience working in real estate or property management accounting is highly valued, and familiarity with industry platforms such as Yardi, AppFolio, or similar property management accounting systems is a strong plus. Duties
- Maintain and update the general ledger using accounting software such as QuickBooks, Yardi, Appfolio or similar platforms.
- Perform bank reconciliations and account reconciliations to ensure accuracy across all financial accounts.
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions efficiently and accurately.
- Prepare journal entries, including debits & credits, to record financial activities in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Conduct balance sheet reconciliation and general ledger accounting to verify the integrity of financial data.
- Assist with tenant billing, rent postings, and tracking lease-related charges, payroll processing and related tax filings to ensure compliance with governmental regulations.
- Generate detailed financial reports, including budgeting, account analysis, and financial report writing for internal review or external audits.
- Conduct balance sheet and general ledger reconciliations to verify the accuracy and integrity of financial data.
- Prepare and assist with monthly and quarterly financial reports for individual properties and management review.
- Support non-profit or governmental accounting requirements if applicable, ensuring adherence to specific standards.
- Collaborate with property management staff to ensure accurate financial reporting and timely resolution of accounting issues related to property operations.
- Perform month-end closing procedures, including account analysis and double-entry bookkeeping tasks.
- Utilize technical accounting knowledge for complex transactions and support audit preparations as needed.
Skills
- Proficiency with popular accounting software such as QuickBooks, or similar systems.; experience in property management accounting platforms such as Yardi or Appfolio is a strong plus.
- Experience supporting commercial real estate and property management accounting operations including property level financial tracking and reporting.
- Strong understanding of financial concepts including GAAP standards, double-entry bookkeeping, journal entries, and account reconciliation.
- Experience with bank reconciliation, general ledger management, and balance sheet reconciliation processes.
- Knowledge of accounts payable/receivable workflows and payroll processing procedures.
- Ability to perform 10 key typing accurately for data entry tasks.
- Excellent attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills for managing multiple accounts and deadlines.
- Effective communication skills for preparing clear financial reports and collaborating across teams.
- Strong computer proficiency with Microsoft Office for financial analysis and reporting.

Pay: $25.50 - $32.00 per hour
