About the Firm
Hoffler Smith is a growing tax and accounting firm serving individuals, small businesses, and entrepreneurs across South Jersey. We move fast, we take care of our clients, and we need someone who can keep up with real production volume — not just talk about it.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Managing bookkeeping for multiple clients — bank reconciliations, ledger maintenance, and monthly close work in QuickBooks
- Preparing and filing individual and business tax returns using ProSeries (personal, partnerships, S-corps, etc.)
- Processing payroll for multiple companies, including garnishments, direct deposits, and quarterly filings (941s, 940s, NJ-927, state reports)
- Tracking and following up on outstanding invoices and client documentation
- Generating financial reports and flagging discrepancies before they become problems
- Supporting the team during tax season with high-volume return preparation
What We’re Looking For
- Hands-on experience with ProSeries tax software (this is non-negotiable)
- Strong working knowledge of QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online)
- Experience managing bookkeeping and tax prep for multiple clients simultaneously
- Payroll processing experience, including quarterly and year-end reporting
- Familiarity with IRS and NJ state filing requirements
- Organized, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
- Excellent attention to detail — you catch what others miss
Bonus Points
- Experience with ADP payroll
- Notary Public certification
- Background in office management or client-facing roles
- Associate’s degree or higher in Accounting, Business Administration, or related field
