Business Development Specialist

We are seeking a dynamic and technically proficient “ Business Development Specialist” to drive growth in our industrial automation business. This role goes beyond conventional sales it’s an opportunity to act as a strategic advisor to lead clients across Oil & Gas, manufacturing and process industries in assigned territory. You will identify new business opportunities, shape client strategies, and collaborate with technical teams to deliver innovative solutions that meet evolving market needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead business development for Engineering solutions, Product & After Sales Verticals by meeting and exceeding Business Generation targets.
  • Develop and execute strategies for market expansion into new geographies, sectors, and customer segments.
  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with key decision-makers across Plant operators, industrial clients & Consultants.
  • Identify and develop new clients and market opportunities using our strong portfolio of Engineering Solutions, Product and After sales services domains.
  • Understand client challenges and propose tailored solutions involving PLC, DCS, SCADA systems, field instrumentation, and FGFD Portfolio.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering, proposal, and project execution teams to align solutions with customer requirements.
  • Conduct market research to track industry trends, competitor activities, and emerging technologies.
  • Develop and maintain a healthy sales pipeline and forecast, using CRM tools and best practices.
  • Provide regular business updates and insights to leadership on sales performance and market trends.
  • Participate in strategic planning to define business growth roadmaps and revenue targets.
  • Represent Descon Engineering at industry events, trade shows, and technical seminars.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical, Instrumentation, Control, or Mechatronics Engineering. (MBA or equivalent business qualification is an advantage).
  • 5 to 7 years of experience in business development, solutions sales within the Automation & Control / Instrumentation field.
  • Strong technical knowledge of instrumentation (pressure, flow, temperature, level, analyzers), industrial control platforms (PLC, DCS, SCADA), Energy Management Systems (EMS), Continuous Emission Monitoring System (CEMS) & FGFD Portfolio.
  • Proven track record of winning and delivering profitable automation projects.
  • Strong relationships with key decision makers in leading OEMs, Industries & related Public sector.

  • Proficiency in MS office / Power BI / SAP.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with a focus on data-driven decision making.
  • Proficiency in identifying and interpreting market trends, competitive dynamics, and future technology trends.
  • Strategic thinking with a results-driven mindset focused on market growth and expansion.
  • Exceptional relationship-building and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally as required.
