Business Development Specialist // Gold and Metal //

JOB PURPOSE

The Business Development Specialist is a key driver of the company’s global growth. This role is responsible for identifying and developing new business opportunities, expanding market presence, cultivating strategic client and supplier relationships, and driving profitable revenue growth in physical precious metals and stones trading. Operating across the Dubai and Hong Kong hubs, the incumbent will navigate diverse cultures, time zones, and regulatory environments to secure competitive transactions and strengthen the company’s position as a market leader.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Market Development & Client Acquisition

Design and execute strategic business development plans to penetrate new geographic markets and customer segments for gold and gemstones.

Proactively identify, target, and onboard new B2B clients, including jewellers, bullion dealers, refineries, financial institutions, wholesalers, and retail chains.

Continuously monitor global commodity price movements, supply‑demand dynamics, macroeconomic indicators, and regulatory changes to capture emerging opportunities and mitigate risks.

2. Relationship Management & Partnership Building

Build and maintain long‑term, trust‑based relationships with existing clients to maximise retention and lifetime value.

Develop and manage a robust network of reliable suppliers and manufacturers to ensure consistent, cost‑effective supply of high‑quality physical metals and stones.

Collaborate closely with internal teams (Procurement, Logistics, Finance, Compliance) to ensure seamless order execution, timely delivery, and exceptional client service.

3. Commercial Negotiation & Deal Execution

Lead commercial negotiations on pricing, contract terms, delivery schedules, and payment structures to secure favourable margins and terms for the company.

Identify and execute physical trading opportunities – spot and forward deals – while balancing volume growth with profitability.

Ensure all transactions strictly adhere to Anti‑Money Laundering (AML), Know‑Your‑Customer (KYC), and international trade compliance regulations.

4. Performance Monitoring & Strategic Reporting

Achieve and exceed assigned revenue, volume, and profitability targets; track performance against KPIs and adjust tactics proactively.

Prepare regular sales reports, market intelligence summaries, and business forecasts for senior management to support data‑driven decision‑making.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, International Trade, Finance, Marketing, Gemmology, or a related field.

An MBA or equivalent postgraduate degree is a strong plus.

Professional Experience

Minimum 3 years of proven B2B business development, sales, or trading experience in precious metals (gold, silver, platinum) and/or precious stones (diamonds, coloured gems), or other physical commodities.

Hands‑on experience in physical trading operations, including pricing mechanisms, supply chain logistics, and contract execution.

Prior exposure to the Dubai (DMCC) or Hong Kong bullion/gemstone markets is highly advantageous..

Negotiation & Commercial Acumen – Strong ability to structure complex deals and drive win‑win outcomes.

Network – Established connections within the jewellery, bullion, refining, or commodities trading industry.
