Reporting to the Procurement Director, this role acts as the intermediary between the business, FP&A, suppliers and AP. This individual is responsible for turning approved contracts into purchase orders, creating purchase requisitions and receiving goods and services. This role is also highly focused on customer service, ensuring that spend requests of all types are set up correctly and efficiently and contract terms are in the best interest of SEI.

The Buyer role is able to act independently on purchasing tasks as well as begin to support the broader purchasing functions at SEI. This includes some project work, data exercises to find savings, and collaboration with other teams.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
  • Obtain purchasing requirements from relevant departments
  • Enter purchasing data into procurement system
  • Work with contract review team to ensure proper approval workflow is followed
  • Issue purchase orders when fully approved
  • Participate in annual training for SEI employees
  • Work on sourcing projects
  • Confirm receipt of goods and services from initiating party when tasks are complete
  • Work with departments, Accounts Payable, and accounting team to ensure proper coding of costs
  • Other general office administrative tasks as needed
Job Skills:
  • Understanding of workflows and ability to efficiently troubleshoot bottlenecks
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong skills with Microsoft products, especially Excel
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with all levels of operations and senior management
  • In-depth knowledge of company procurement and administrative practices
Work Experience:
  • At least 2 years of finance, accounts payable and/or procurement experience
  • Knowledge of Coupa or Oracle Fusion systems preferred
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree is preferred but not required
Certificates, licenses and registrations:
  • Credentials in relevant areas are a plus but not required
Other:
  • Must be able to travel 5 % of time.
  • Must be able to lift 10 lbs.
  • Typical office setting.
  • Mobility within the office including movement from floor to floor.
  • Travel via plane, car, and metro may be required to perform this job.
  • Must be able to work more than 40 hours per week when business needs warrant
  • Access information using a computer.
  • Effectively communicate, both up and down the management chain.
  • Effectively cope with stressful situations
  • Strong mental acuity
  • Regular, dependable attendance and punctuality are essential functions of this job.
