Chief Operating Officer (COO) — Job Description
Role summary
Oversee day-to-day operations and execute the company’s strategic plan by aligning people, processes, and resources to drive operational excellence, scalable growth, and measurable business outcomes.
Key responsibilities:
- Operational Strategy & Execution: Translate corporate strategy into operational plans and KPIs; lead initiatives to improve efficiency, scale, and margin.
- Cross‑Functional Leadership: Oversee core functions such as operations, supply chain, customer service, IT/ops (where applicable), HR/People ops, and facilities; ensure coordination across departments.
- Process Optimization & Continuous Improvement: Implement Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent methodologies to streamline processes, reduce waste, and improve quality and throughput.
- Performance Management & Metrics: Define, track, and report operational KPIs (e.g., revenue per employee, operating margin, cycle time, customer satisfaction, on-time delivery).
- Financial Oversight & Budgeting: Partner with CFO to manage operating budgets, forecasting, cost controls, and capital allocation for operational investments.
- Go‑to‑Market & Product Ops (when applicable): Coordinate product delivery, pricing, commercial operations, and customer success to improve retention and growth.
- Risk Management & Compliance: Ensure operational compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards; oversee business continuity and crisis response planning.
- Talent & Organization Design: Build high‑performing operational teams, set organizational structure, lead succession planning, and drive a performance-oriented culture.
- Technology & Automation: Sponsor operational technology, automation, and data/analytics initiatives to enable scale and data‑driven decision making.
- Vendor & Partner Management: Manage strategic supplier relationships, outsourcing, and third-party service agreements to optimize cost and service levels.
- Mergers, Integrations & Scaling: Lead integration planning and execution for acquisitions, new market launches, and large transformation programs.
- Stakeholder Engagement & Communication: Communicate operational priorities and progress to the CEO, board, and cross‑functional leaders.
Required qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
- 10+ years of progressive operations leadership; 5+ years in a senior/VP-level or executive operations role preferred.
- Proven track record leading cross-functional teams, scaling operations, and delivering measurable process improvements.
- Strong financial acumen, program management, and people leadership skills.
- Experience with operational frameworks (Lean, Agile, Six Sigma) and relevant technology platforms (ERP, CRM, WMS, etc.).
Preferred skills & attributes:
- Experience in the company’s industry (e.g., SaaS, manufacturing, logistics, retail, healthcare) and familiarity with industry-specific operational challenges.
- Data-driven decision-making skills and comfort with KPIs, dashboards, and analytics tools.
- Strong change management, communication, and stakeholder influence capabilities.
- Crisis leadership and operational resilience experience.

Pay: QAR315.15 - QAR1,009.10 per month
