Position Overview:
The Chief Operating Officer (COO) will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations, project execution, and overall business performance of the company specializing in structural steel construction. The role requires strong leadership, operational expertise, and deep knowledge of the steel construction industry to ensure timely, cost-effective, and high-quality project delivery. The COO will play a critical role in driving operational excellence, safety standards, and sustainable growth while aligning with the organization’s strategic objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership
- Collaborate with the CEO and executive team to define and implement business strategies, operational goals, and long-term growth plans.
- Lead operational initiatives to enhance efficiency, productivity, and profitability across all departments.
- Operational Management
- Oversee day-to-day operations including project management, engineering, fabrication, erection, procurement, and logistics.
- Ensure projects are executed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality and safety standards.
- Implement and monitor KPIs for project delivery, cost control, and operational performance.
- Business & Project Development
- Support business development and client relations through effective execution and client satisfaction.
- Provide technical expertise during bidding, estimation, and contract negotiations.
- Team Leadership & Development
- Lead and mentor senior managers and operational teams, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and safety.
- Develop workforce capabilities through training, performance management, and succession planning.
- Financial Oversight
- Work with the finance team to prepare budgets, forecasts, and operational reports.
- Drive cost optimization and ensure financial performance aligns with company objectives.
- Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with local and international construction regulations, building codes, and quality standards.
- Promote a strong health, safety, and environmental culture across all operations.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in the structural steel construction industry with proven track record in project execution and operations.
- Strong understanding of steel fabrication, erection, welding, and industry-specific standards.
- Demonstrated ability to lead large teams and manage multimillion-dollar construction projects.
- Excellent financial acumen with experience in budgeting, forecasting, and cost control.
- Strong client-facing, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Exceptional problem-solving, decision-making, and organizational abilities.
