Job Overview:

TopDog Law is seeking a forward-thinking Chief Technology Officer (CTO) to drive innovation, scale operations, and establish a world-class technology organization. This role sits on the C-Suite, serving as both a business leader and a technical visionary. The CTO will oversee the development of business applications, data infrastructure, call center technology, web platforms, and information security while ensuring technology is aligned with the firm’s strategic growth goals.

This is a key leadership position for someone who can balance technical expertise with business acumen - a leader who can code when needed but, more importantly, understands how to build, scale, and guide the business through technology-driven transformation.

Responsibilities:


Strategy & Leadership

  • Define and communicate a multi-year technology strategy that supports company growth, operational efficiency, and client engagement.
  • Serve as a key member of the executive team, providing input on business strategy, technology adoption, and innovation priorities.
  • Hire, onboard, and develop the technology organization across the following teams: Business Application Development, Data Engineering/Infrastructure, and Website Development.
  • Make informed “build vs. buy” decisions to maximize ROI and align with business needs.

Business Applications & Call Center Technology

  • Oversee the development and optimization of business applications critical to firm operations.
  • Lead the design and management of the Amazon Connect call center platform to ensure reliable, scalable, and client-friendly communication.
  • Implement best practices in call center analytics, workforce management tools, and process automation.

Data Engineering & Analytics

  • Design and implement enterprise-grade data warehouses, data tables, and pipelines to support the business analytics team.
  • Ensure data governance, security, and accessibility across all business units.
  • Partner with business analytics teams to deliver actionable insights and empower data-driven decision-making.

Website Development & Digital Experience

  • Oversee the continued development and optimization of the company’s website, which serves as the primary channel for 80% of client engagement.
  • Ensure best practices in UI/UX, SEO, performance, and accessibility.
  • Implement AI-driven personalization and automation to maximize client conversion and engagement.

Security, Privacy & Compliance

  • Own the organization’s information security strategy, ensuring protection against malware, cyber threats, and vulnerabilities.
  • Implement robust frameworks for identity management, encryption, monitoring, and compliance.
  • Explore AI-enabled security solutions to enhance detection and response capabilities.

AI, Automation & Innovation

  • Drive AI and automation initiatives across the business, including client intake, workflow optimization, predictive analytics, and fraud detection.
  • Lead conversations around emerging technologies and integrate them into scalable, value-driven solutions.
  • Establish frameworks for rapid experimentation, prototyping, and scaling of innovative tools.

Business Enablement & Delivery

  • Act as both a project manager and a business builder, ensuring technology initiatives deliver measurable business value.
  • Translate complex technical needs into clear business language for stakeholders.
  • Foster collaboration between technology, operations, finance, and client services to align execution with company objectives.

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years in progressive technology leadership roles; 5+ years in a CTO, VP, or senior technology executive position.
  • Strong experience with business application development, cloud platforms, and call center technologies.
  • Proven expertise in data engineering/architecture and building data warehouses to support analytics.
  • Hands-on experience with web development and knowledge of best practices in high-volume, client-facing websites.
  • Deep understanding of cybersecurity, malware prevention, and compliance frameworks.
  • Demonstrated success in scaling teams, processes, and systems in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to operate as a business-first leader who can also “speak the language” of engineers.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Background in professional services, legal technology, or other compliance-heavy industries.
  • Experience deploying AI/ML solutions in production environments.
  • Familiarity with automation tools, RPA, and advanced analytics platforms.
  • Previous success in scaling a technology organization from early growth to maturity.
