The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled Cloud Systems Administrator (Azure) to manage, operate, and evolve our hybrid IT environment. The role involves hands-on administration of Microsoft Azure, on-premises infrastructure, and leading migration initiatives from on-prem to cloud. The ideal candidate has strong systems administration fundamentals, automation mindset, and experience operating production environments.

Role & Responsibilities

• Administer and support Azure subscriptions, resources, and services including:

• Azure Virtual Machines (Windows/Linux)

• Azure Storage (Blob, File, Disk)

• Azure Networking (VNETs, NSGs, VPN, ExpressRoute – good to have)

• Azure Backup, Site Recovery, and Monitoring

• Manage Azure identities using Azure AD, RBAC, Managed Identities, and Conditional Access

• Ensure availability, performance, security, and cost optimization of Azure workloads

• Implement and maintain Azure security best practices and governance standards

• Administer Windows Server and Linux operating systems

• Manage core infrastructure services:

• Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policies

• File servers, print services, patching, and antivirus

• Monitor system health, troubleshoot incidents, and perform root cause analysis

• Participate in on-call support and incident response when required

• Manage on-prem infrastructure including:

• Virtualization platforms - Nutanix (nice to have)

• Compute, storage, and networking components

• Maintain hybrid connectivity between on-prem and Azure

• Support hardware lifecycle management and capacity planning

• Plan and execute migrations from on-premises environments to Azure

• Perform workload assessments, dependency mapping, and readiness analysis

• Execute migrations using tools such as:

• Azure Migrate

• Azure Site Recovery

• Support re-hosting, re-platforming, and modernization initiatives

• Ensure minimal downtime and business continuity during migrations

• Develop and maintain automation for provisioning, configuration, and operations

• Hands-on experience with:

• PowerShell

• Azure CLI

• Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools such as:

• ARM Templates / Bicep

• Terraform (preferred)

• Automate patching, backups, monitoring, and routine operational tasks

• Integrate automation into CI/CD pipelines where applicable

• Configure and manage Azure Monitor, Log Analytics, Alerts

• Perform capacity planning, performance tuning, and cost optimization

• Implement backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity strategies

• Document operational procedures, runbooks, and architecture diagrams

Required Skills & Qualifications

Technical Skills

• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure administration

• Solid background in systems administration (Windows & Linux)

• Experience managing hybrid environments (on-prem + cloud)

• Proven experience in cloud migration projects

• Hands-on automation experience using PowerShell / IaC

• Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, VPNs, firewalls)

Preferred / Nice to Have

• Azure certifications (AZ-104, AZ-305, or equivalent)

• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools

• Exposure to containers (Docker, AKS) is a plus

• Knowledge of security frameworks and compliance standards (ISO 27001, CIS, etc.)

• Experience with monitoring and SIEM tools
