CNC Machinist

Job Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented CNC Machinist to join our manufacturing team. The ideal candidate will operate and program CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines, including lathes and milling machines, to produce precision components according to technical specifications. This role is essential in ensuring high-quality production, maintaining safety standards, and optimizing machining processes. The successful applicant will bring mechanical expertise, proficiency in CNC programming, and a strong understanding of manufacturing principles to support our commitment to excellence and efficiency.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and troubleshoot CNC machines such as CNC lathes and milling machines, primarily using Fanuc controls.
• Read and interpret blueprints, technical drawings, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) specifications to ensure accurate machining.
• Write or modify CNC programs using CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) software; utilize SolidWorks and CAD tools for design verification.
• Perform precise measurements with calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines to verify part dimensions.
• Use precision measuring instruments and hand tools to inspect finished parts for quality assurance.
• Maintain machine tools by performing routine maintenance, tooling changes, and adjustments to optimize performance.
• Follow safety protocols diligently while handling power tools, welding equipment, and other manufacturing tools.
• Support lean manufacturing initiatives by identifying process improvements and reducing waste.
• Assist in assembly operations when required, utilizing basic math skills for component fitting.
• Operate forklifts or other material handling equipment as needed for raw material or finished product movement.

Skills

• Proven experience with CNC programming and operation of CNC milling machines and CNC lathes.
• Strong knowledge of blueprint reading, GD&T standards, and mechanical drawing interpretation.
• Proficiency in CAM programming software; experience with SolidWorks and CAD is highly desirable.
• Familiarity with electrical discharge machining (EDM) processes is a plus.
• Ability to use precision measurement instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines accurately.
• Mechanical knowledge related to manufacturing processes including plastics injection molding and welding techniques.
• Basic math skills for measurements, calculations, and quality control procedures.
• Experience with Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems.
• Knowledge of tooling setup, selection, and maintenance for various machining operations.
• Ability to work safely with power tools, hand tools, and heavy machinery in a fast-paced environment.
• Understanding of lean manufacturing principles aimed at continuous improvement. Pay: $20.00 - $31.52 per hour
