Dispatcher
The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating daily driver schedules, with a strong focus on air freight pickup operations. This role requires hands-on experience with airport cargo procedures, quick response, and strong communication skills to ensure efficient and on-time pickups and deliveries.
The ideal candidate is familiar with airport cargo terminals (e.g., LAX), air waybill (AWB) handling, and airline/terminal pickup processes, and can proactively manage operational changes in real time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Dispatch and schedule drivers for daily pickups and deliveries, with priority on air freight pickups
- Coordinate airport cargo pickups (air freight), including airline terminals and cargo facilities
- Support ocean container pickups when needed (port operations as secondary responsibility)
- Monitor driver routes and track delivery progress throughout the day
- Ensure all air freight pickups are completed on time and in compliance with terminal requirements
- Follow up on all pickups, especially airport pickups with strict time windows
- Respond quickly to operational changes, delays, or airport-related issues
- Adjust routes and reassign drivers as necessary to maintain efficiency
- Communicate with drivers, warehouse teams, airlines, and customers
- Assist drivers with airport procedures, documentation, and pickup requirements
- Send timely updates regarding delays, route changes, or service issues
- Maintain daily dispatch logs and tracking sheets
- Update pickup and delivery information in internal tracking systems
- Monitor driver compliance and communication responsiveness
- Track driver headcount and availability daily
- Assist with appointment scheduling for pickups and deliveries
- Escalate operational or airport-related issues when necessary
- Perform other dispatch-related duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 1+ year dispatch or logistics experience (required)
- Hands-on experience with air freight pickup (highly preferred)
- Familiar with airport cargo pickup procedures (e.g., LAX terminals, airline cargo systems, AWB handling)
- Familiarity with ocean container pickup procedures is a plus
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking ability in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to respond quickly to real-time operational changes
- Strong communication and coordination skills
- Knowledge of local routes in Los Angeles area preferred
- Bilingual required: English + Chinese OR English + Spanish
