Construction Bookkeeper

About the Role

Tidal Build is a growing construction company delivering quality residential and commercial projects throughout the region. We're looking for a detail-oriented, self-motivated Part-Time Bookkeeper with construction industry experience to join our team. This is a flexible hybrid role — you'll split your time between working remotely and visiting our office, for a total of 20 hours per week.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable for active construction projects
• Process subcontractor invoices, job cost coding, and purchase orders
• Reconcile bank and credit card statements on a weekly basis
• Maintain accurate job cost tracking and project budget reports
• Prepare and process bi-weekly payroll using construction payroll software
• Generate WIP (Work-in-Progress) reports and assist with monthly financial close
• Track lien waivers, certificates of insurance, and vendor compliance documents
• Assist with AIA billing, draw requests, and owner requisitions
• Support the project management team with budget variance analysis
• Coordinate with the CPA/accountant for quarterly and year-end filings

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bookkeeping experience, preferably in construction or a related trade industry
• Proficiency in QuickBooks (Desktop and/or Online) — QuickBooks certification a plus
• Familiarity with construction accounting software (e.g., Buildertrend, Procore, Sage) preferred
• Strong understanding of job costing, WIP schedules, and project-based accounting
• Experience processing certified payroll and prevailing wage reporting is a plus
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Reliable, organized, and comfortable working independently with minimal supervision
• Strong communication skills to coordinate with project managers, vendors, and ownership
