Creative Designer, Men’s Basketball

This role is responsible for working with the men’s basketball staff on ideation, capturing, development, and production of creative materials. These materials include mailers/print, personalized/generic graphics, team/culture and digital/social media to best meet recruiting/team needs and effectively communicate the Marquette Basketball brand and mission while aligning with the program’s values and messages.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Act as lead designer responsible for working with the men’s basketball staff on ideation, capturing, development, and production of creative materials for all projects associated with Marquette Basketball Recruiting. These materials include mailers/print, personalized/generic graphics, team/culture and digital/social media to best meet recruiting/team needs and effectively communicate the Marquette Basketball brand and mission while aligning with the program’s values and messages. Responsible for designing mailers and public-facing social media graphics. Produce weekly personalized recruiting graphic content for prospective student-athletes. Responsible for executing other design projects as assigned by the Head Men’s Basketball Coach and other basketball staff members.

2. Assist athletic staff with the development and implementation of social media strategies across all platforms. Capture and edit photos at practices, games, and team events to meet various internal and external program needs. Set-up and execute photo shoots for prospective student-athletes for official and unofficial visits. Capture and edit pictures from photo shoots and categorize them to be distributed to prospective student-athletes according to NCAA rules. Attend practices, games and team events which involve an irregular schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

3. Assist in collateral materials but not limited to signage, camp brochures, marketing materials, stationary, team apparel and internal documents. May assist with purchasing and basic credit card responsibilities.

4. Organize and maintain a creative asset database that meets the standards set forth by the Marquette Athletics Brand Guide.

5. Responsible for the supervision of student employees which includes but is not limited to hiring, training, disciplinary actions, ending the student’s assignment, etc. as one of the job’s responsibilities.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Bachelor’s Degree with a preference in Graphic Design, Communications, Digital Marketing, Journalism, or a related major.

A minimum of 1 year of related experience in digital and creative sports media production.

Proficient with the Adobe Creative Suite.

Demonstrated ability to work effectively under multiple, strict deadlines in a fast-paced office environment while delivering quality work.

Capacity to adapt quickly to major and minor changes in projects and outcomes.

Strong planning and organizational skills.

Excellent verbal, written, computer and personal relations skills.

Ability to work an irregular schedule including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated passion for basketball and understanding of the game.

Supervisory experience.
